Job Title: IEP Facilitator
Reports To: Director of Special Populations
Job Overview: The IEP (Individualized Education Program) Facilitator is responsible for ensuring smooth and
effective coordination and facilitation of the IEP process at Manhattan Charter School. The IEP Facilitator will
work closely with teachers, parents, service providers, and administrative staff to ensure compliance with
federal, state, and local laws governing special education. The position is ideal for an organized and
detail-oriented individual with strong communication and collaboration skills. Special education experience is
not required, but a commitment to supporting diverse learners and ensuring they receive appropriate services
is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. IEP Meeting Coordination and Facilitation:
○ Schedule IEP meetings in accordance with mandated timelines.
○ Serve as the MCS rep at meetings, ensuring that discussions remain focused on the student's
needs and compliance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) requirements.
○ Collaborate with parents, teachers, and service providers to gather input and draft IEPs.
○ Ensure that IEP team members have the necessary data and materials for meetings.
2. Compliance and Documentation:
○ Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of IEP meetings, including invitations, meeting
minutes, and finalized IEP documents.
○ Ensure that all timelines for annual reviews, reevaluations, and initial evaluations are met.
○ Submit and track all required IEP paperwork to ensure compliance with state and federal
regulations.
○ Communicate regularly with the school's compliance and student support teams to ensure IEP
documentation is consistent with regulatory standards.
○ Lead the per pupil billing for Special Ed students.
3. Family and Staff Liaison:
○ Act as a primary point of contact for families during the IEP process, providing clear information
and support to ensure they understand their rights and responsibilities.
○ Work closely with general and special education teachers, service providers, and school leaders
to ensure that all participants are prepared for IEP meetings.
○ Facilitate communication between staff, service providers, and families to ensure appropriate
follow-up on IEP implementation.
4. Collaboration and Team Support:
○ Participate in professional development opportunities related to special education and IEP
facilitation.
○ Collaborate with the school leadership and student support teams to ensure all students' needs
are met.
○ Support school initiatives focused on improving academic and social outcomes for students with
disabilities.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or related field (Master's preferred but not
required).
● Strong organizational and time management skills.
● Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, especially in explaining technical or legal
processes to diverse audiences.
● Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, teachers, service
providers, and administrators.
● Comfort working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
● Familiarity with special education processes and regulations (training will be provided if necessary).
Preferred Skills:
● Previous experience in an educational or school-based setting.
● Knowledge of local, state, and federal special education regulations is a plus.
● Experience in coordinating or facilitating meetings, particularly with diverse groups.
● Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, or other data management systems.
Compensation: 60,000 - 80,000.
