IPM Generalist
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Integrated Pest Managment (IPM) Generalist, are to:
- Provides technical direction to the statewide IPM team: including training of staff on complex research protocols and creating operational plans used by staff to safety and compliantly deliver production activities;
- Continuously evaluates and improves all IPM practices and methods developed and/or deployed at the site for use by staff;
- Works with key stakeholder groups on the design and deployment of IPM innovation launches that bring new technologies to manual processes such as electronic and digital data collection tools and automated equipment that create a step change in the IPM duties within the program; Drive the implementation and adoption of new initiatives and policy changes;
- Actively participate as a member of industry association groups to ensure that our site stays updated with industry standards. Work diligently to bring pesticide tools with Hawaii regulations, thereby enhancing our ability to address challenges effectively;
- Proficient and demonstrate expertise of pesticide related programs such as WPS, RCRA, FIFRA;
- Responsible for ensuring teams adherence to Bayer's Health Safety Environment (HSE) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards and State and Federal Regulations including but not limited to all OSHA, FIFRA, RCRA and WPS requirements;
- Support and supervise compliance with all applicable aspects of Quality Management Systems, Regulatory agencies and other Bayer policies;
- Lead committees and project teams related to internal statewide IPM, HSE, and agronomy programs, and bring enhancements or updates to local IPM teams;
- Lead and maintain forecasting of the budget and keeping spend on target to meet overall corporate and company financial targets and internal controls: including the spend and tracking of multi-million dollar assets and capital projects;
- Drives operational improvements, metrics tracking and implementation of best practices at the site and coordinates with corporate team members to ensure consistent practices across facilities;
- Oversee physical and digital product inventory by working with IPM team forecasting supply needs, ordering product, maintaining records, inventory tracking and waste management practices;
- Build competency in team members on laws, policies, and expectations, facilitate sharing of innovative processes between HI, Marana, PR, and Mainland & challenge ideas in ways that make them stronger;
- Assist with weekly scouting targets and pesticide applications, as needed;
- Plan, coordinate training to ensure technical competency on the operation of agricultural equipment including but not limited to tractors, pesticide application equipment; collaborate with vendors to bring new knowledge and expertise to IPM team;
- Lead end of season reviews for the IPM program; set and track KPIs, analyze metrics, summarize performance results;
- Be responsible for safety in handling and storage of pesticides, vehicle and equipment used in IPM;
- Review scouting data, analyze trends, document pest pressures to make field solution decisions, determine an application plan with the IPM team, and participate in application approval process;
- Remove roadblocks for innovative solutions to meet customer needs;
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Prior agricultural experience with knowledge of IPM practices;
- Demonstration of VACC leadership principles: visionary, architect, catalyst and coach;
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including influencing, coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, and relationship management;
- Valid driver’s license; Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers;
- Strong computer skills related to data acquisition, organization, and analysis;
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs.;
- Hold, maintain and actively use valid Hawaii Department of Agriculture Private Pesticide Applicator's license/certification OR ability to obtain such license within 90 days from hire;
- Ability to work extended hours during peak operational seasons;
- Demonstrated experience leading people and projects in a collaborative team-based environment;
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems while exhibiting situational judgment;
- History of implementation of continuous improvements and new innovations through the work on project teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Agronomy, Life Sciences or related field OR Bachelor's degree in related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience OR High School diploma with 10 years of experience;
- Experience with precision equipment and software;
- Certified Crop Advisor or Certified Professional Agronomist certification.
Domestic relocation may be provided for this role
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $92,618.40 to $138,927.60. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
