The Opportunity Summary:
General Dynamics, the world’s foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking a technical-degreed IT Enterprise Architect (Sr., Specialist, Principal) to join the organization. This is a mid-level to senior IT Enterprise Architect position primarily supporting new submarine programs.
The Position Summary:
Relevant profiles to perform this IT Enterprise Architecture position would be experienced in business, information systems, and technology architecture domains as well as the tools and technology utilized to perform Enterprise Architecture related tasks. The ideal candidate will possess an enterprise mindset where achievements are tied to business driven outcomes. The candidate should be an active learner, able to work independently on multiple tasks simultaneously. The responsibilities of the IT Enterprise Architect will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
The Responsibilities:
- Work with architecture peers to analyze business strategy and requirements to derive the future state architecture. This includes defining the requirements, principles and models that guide the decisions at both the project and enterprise level.
- Stay abreast of technology trends and the practical application of technology.
- Analyze current state architectures to identify gaps and deficiencies and develop approaches to address them.
- Review proposed solutions, balancing the long term strategic with the short term tactical goals.
- Perform functional and technical design reviews for completeness and compliance with requirements and standards.
- Learning new technologies and products
- Collaborate with business constituents, architecture team members, project teams and solution providers to fulfill these responsibilities.
Required:
- BS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics
- 4+ years of relevant Enterprise Architecture work experience
Preferred:
- Industry standard Architecture certifications (Ex: TOGAF)
- Experience working in a PLM environment
- Modeling experience
- Enterprise mindset tied to business driven outcomes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Works well in a cross functional team environment
- Excellent analytic and technical skills
- Understanding of multiple software development life-cycles methodologies, e.g., waterfall, agile
