Our Manager of Data & Cloud Services is a senior technologist with at least seven years of expertise in data design, development, and architecture. They will be highly skilled in the cloud environments and possess excellent communication skills complemented by strong functional and consultative skills.
The manager will play a pivotal role in leading and inspiring a team of talented data engineers. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support our organization's data-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Team Management & Staff Supervision
Oversees and mentors a team of data engineers, providing guidance, training, and career development opportunities.
Fosters a collaborative and high-performing work environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.
Supervises professional and collective bargaining unit staff.
Manage vendor relationships to ensure vendor deliverables meet Working America requirements.
Data Engineering & Operations
Manages all aspects of quality control with Working America’s membership management database system, contact management systems and field reporting systems. Develop, implement, and routinely evaluate quality control systems, provide monitoring reports and tracking systems for our membership management and reporting systems.
Architects, designs, and implements scalable data pipelines, models, and infrastructure to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources.
Decomposes functional requirements into technical specifications and tasks.
Develops and maintains data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage solutions.
Ensures data quality, consistency, and security throughout the data lifecycle.
Leads and manages efforts to implement quality control systems, troubleshoot data errors (both entry and transmission), report regularly on data quality control efforts, and design, implement and execute improvements to existing data systems;
Creates and runs reports, counts, and lists for all aspects of membership and program data.
Provides technical support to national staff with data operations required to support canvassing, member mobilization, organizing activities and all field activities requiring the collection and management of data
Develops, implements and evaluates training and support for field offices for relevant data collection systems.
Creates both technical and end-user documentation for data processes.
Develops, implements and evaluate improvements to new and existing data collection and membership management tools, using field tests and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure end-user functionality;
Schedule and implement regular data hygiene processes, including interfacing with vendors and in-house data staff when necessary; monitor and analyze results of hygiene processes to assist further development of data quality control systems;
Cloud Management & Operations
Delivers and design the development of cloud functions
Stays up-to-date with the latest data engineering technologies, tools, and best practices.
Provides technical guidance and support to data analysts, scientists, and other stakeholders.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify and address data-related challenges.
Collaborates with staff to set organizational policies.
Develops Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
Develops APIs and web services for integration between systems and services.
Configures cloud monitoring and observability alerts.
Technical Management
Manage data engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals.
Prioritize and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 1 year of experience managing teams.
Experience with data engineering tools to include (but not limited to) Google
Strong experience with data analytics and reporting tools like Looker Studio, PowerBI, and Tableau.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Node.js, JavaScript, Python, R, SQL, and Terraform.
2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data warehousing tools (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, Rudderstack).
Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data governance principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Starting salary is $128,060. Includes medical insurance and 401(k) with employer contribution.
