HDL Engineering Consultants, LLC (HDL) is a leader in providing civil, geotechnical, transportation and arctic engineering, environmental and earth science, surveying, and construction management services in Alaska, with offices in Anchorage, Palmer, and Kenai. We are looking for a motivated and detail oriented person to fill an IT Support Specialist in our Anchorage office.
Position Summary
Under general supervision, provide technical software, hardware, and network problem resolution to co-workers by performing problem diagnosis and guiding users through step-by-step solutions; clearly communicate technical solutions in a user-friendly, professional manner; conduct hardware and software inventory, maintenance, and reporting; and perform other related work as required. This is a part-time position with an anticipated 20 hours a week. Work schedule is flexible within standard business hours.
Required Job Qualification:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of technical experience in field or related experience.
- Working knowledge of PC hardware and software installations, configurations, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and software products.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks, while working independently; in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills via phone, in writing, and in person.
- Ability to work evenings and weekend hours when necessary for special installations, implementations, and upgrades.
- Valid Alaska Driver's License and a good driving record.
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs preventative maintenance and assists with routine servicing of equipment before contacting service representatives.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on workstations.
- Configuring employee workstations.
- Manage inventory control for computers and peripheral devices; track software licensing.
- Software and hardware testing.
- Track network and workstation issues and resolutions.
- Occasionally required to travel to the other HDL office locations (Palmer and Kenai).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
This position involves office work. When working in an office setting this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. This position may also be required to periodically climb, kneel or crouch, and reach with hands and arms.
