Symbria Rx Services is seeking a IV Workflow Supervisor to add to our growing team at our Pharmacy located in Woodridge, IL!
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the pharmacy technicians assigned to work in the IV department of the pharmacy. The IV Workflow Supervisor is responsible for developing a superior workforce, assigning workflow based on the needs of the department, ensuring compliance with timely delivery schedules and assisting the Pharmacy Manager in maintaining all pharmacy operations in accordance with the departmental standards and government laws and regulations.

Working Hours:
- 40 Hours/Week primarily scheduled Monday – Friday with potential need for 1-2 Saturdays per month as needed to cover staffing. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee workflow processes, provides work direction and coordinates the activities of IV pharmacy technicians to include appropriate scheduling of staff to meet customer service, operational, performance and quality assurance objectives.
- Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, telecommuting, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling.
- Communicate service, performance and quality assurance expectations and works with Director of Pharmacy to set goals with staff that are consistent with department and company goals and objectives.
- Provide daily leadership of department including adherence to Symbria Rx Services policies and procedures assuring compliance with all regulatory rules and regulations.
- Oversee the training program of all new IV pharmacy technicians, ensuring they receive appropriate instruction and guidance. Identify additional department training needs and evaluate training alternatives.
- Track quality measures in regards to production including accurate dispensing, timely deliveries, and productivity standards.
- Organize and direct department meetings.
- Responsible for maintenance and IV consumable inventory including IV supplies via partnership with vendor and the purchasing department. Works collaboratively with the purchasing department to maintain appropriate inventory levels of medication and supplies.
- Communicate routinely and work collaboratively with Pharmacy Manager and other department supervisors to assure efficient and effective pharmacy operations.
- Works collaboratively with Pharmacy Manager to further develop supervisory skills.
- Develop department policies & procedures to improve productivity & workflow.
- Develop department specific policies and procedures, such as sterile compounding to remain within applicable state, federal, and USP guidelines.
- Assist with on-boarding of new communities, including conducting on-site in-services for community staff.
- Perform the principle functions and responsibilities of the specific job description of the department being supervised (attach hereto), as needed.
- Any and all duties as assigned.
- Pharmacy Technician license as per state requirement, certified as Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
- IV pharmacy experience; minimum three to five years.
- Managerial experience; minimum one to three years.
- Understanding and knowledge of calculations regarding compounds and IV’s, abbreviations, brand and generic comparisons for interpreting prescriptions and for filling.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including ability to develop and assist team members.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions.
- Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
- General computer knowledge including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of business English, spelling and commercial arithmetic.
- Must be able to work and lead in a flexible schedule as 24/7/365 operational needs dictate, including scheduled nights and weekends, holidays, covering open shifts within the department, or taking off-site phone calls to assist the emergent needs of the department.
