JOB SUMMARY:
This position will efficiently and effectively lead the maintenance crew in the day-to-day maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and monitoring of all machines/equipment in a clean, safe and efficient manner. The Lead will assist the Maintenance Supervisor with swing shift millwright activities on the plant site. Responsible for the day-to-day mechanical maintenance of machines, organizing and monitoring work processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Review daily downtime and work with Maintenance Supervisor to develop proactive plans to reduce and/or eliminate downtime.
- Set daily, weekly and monthly priorities for Swing Shift Maintenance Team.
- Monitor Preventative, Predictive and Corrective Maintenance activities.
- Dispatch maintenance when needed to maintain uptime.
- Ensure quality of work is met, that all work for shift is complete and cleaned up.
- In emergencies, be willing to work to meet operational needs and uptime.
- Be willing to provide assistance on weekend projects that extend past normal shift hours.
- Train, assist and mentor team members.
- Communicate and coordinate work with Maintenance Supervisor, Production Supervisors, Operators, and Electrical personnel.
- SCHEDULING/PURCHASING:
- Use and ensure all maintenance team members are properly using DynaStar including entering journal notes daily.
- Assist the Supervisor and Planner to coordinate schedules to cover vacations, projects and absences.
- Make sure all parts checked out during shift have properly documented.
- SAFETY
- Use and monitor all safety rules and policies such as lockouts, confined space.
- Report all safety concerns, incidents, violations, etc immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
- Oversee and be responsible for a clean and safe work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Journeyman level in the maintenance department required.
- Previous maintenance/millwright experience in a mill setting required.
- Communication skills and ability to coordinate with production supervisors regarding machine repairs and inspections.
- Leadership skills including the ability to lead a team of maintenance personnel.
- Ability to use and learn Microsoft Word, Excel, DynaStar CMMS.
- Proven ability to accurately estimate work, time and materials.
- Comprehend and consistently perform the safety functions and create a safety culture.
- Comprehend reasonable instructions and plan steps to carry out essential functions with minimal supervision taking a leadership role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs. Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations, and airborne particles (sawdust).
