Job Summary
The Information Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the reliability, development, configuration and deployment of systems that provide OVHcloud core services. As a member of the Core Services team, this position is critical in nature and exposed to various scenarios that will continue to expand the individual’s skillset.
Candidates should be good communicators, capable of self-starting, and driven to execute in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Candidates should have familiarity with the cloud hosting industry, and data center physical resource concepts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain site reliability in a production environment.
- Support and contribute to software development projects.
- Ensure successful deployment, configuration, and support of core OVHcloud infrastructure.
- Monitor systems availability and performance.
- Continuous learning of technologies, both new and old, to maintain ideal system functionality.
- Work with datasets, API, relational databases and/or event buses.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems in supported systems.
- Work effectively and build relationships with teams in non-overlapping time zones.
- Support user acceptance testing.
Minimum Requirements
- 3 years of experience in Linux/Unix Administration.
- Experience or exposure to large scale operations support and remediation.
- Fundamental networking and storage knowledge.
- Familiarity with virtualization and containers technology.
- Experience working with relational DB’s.
- Experience consuming and supporting RESTful API’s.
- Experience with scripting and or a static language (i.e., Perl, Python, GoLang, Ruby, Java, C#, Bash).
- Experience with and knowledge of Puppet, Ansible, Terraform and Kubernetes is highly desired.
Skillset breakdown
25% - Coding (ability to complete relatively simple assignments when needed ,read existing code, and understand how to patch it)
25% - Linux/VM’s/containers and command line
30% - SRE / service uptime maintenance (proactive SRE mindset, looking for holes and identifying fixes to avoid potential outages)
20% - QA testing
