OMS Field Services is looking for a Safety Specialist (Intermediate) to work in our clients Vegetation Management program. Safety Specialist will perform initial and subsequent safety observations, written or computer- based documentation of VM activities, including new and/or difficult skills and techniques, with general guidance on new assignments. May involve working in extreme weather, day or night conditions, and hiking to complete observations. Business conduct must occur in accordance with OMS policies and procedures and be aligned with the goals of OMS.

The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to perform tasks during a typical 8+ hour workday.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares employees/contractors for the entire observation process, written and/or computer documentation of field observation, through effective communication and tail boarding. Ensures employees understand the purpose and process.
- Documents and communicates results to first line supervision, using standardized templates and forms.
- Provides coaching report and feedback to participants upon completion of the field safety observations.
- May provide recommendations and input to improve observed at risk safety activities utilizing coaching tools and processes.
- Other duties as assigned by OMS or the client.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Any technical or continued education in related field. (Forestry, Utility Vegetation Management and/or Logging)
- CPR/First Aid
- Three (3) years of experience in the arboriculture industry or military experience and (1) year in the arboriculture industry
- One (1) year in trainer or safety position
- Utility line clearance
- Training experience within the arboriculture/utility line clearance industry.
- Knowledge in technical discipline for which incumbent is performing safety observations.
- Good understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices.
- Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coach and provide feedback.
- Knowledge of OSHA Logging Regulations, ANSI Z133 Standards and PG&E Safe Work Practices
- Required to maintain a Class C driver’s license, including participating in Employer Pull Notice Program (EPN), with DMV.
- Conduct a background check, drug screening, and physical exam.

- Bilingual (English / Spanish)
- OSHA 30 Hour Certification
- OSHA 30 (with focus in Elec Power)
- Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) or Consulting Utility Forester Safety Professional (CUFSP)
- International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Credentials
- Electric Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP)
