Position Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the Environmental Health & Safety function at our Sturgeon Bay, WI shipyard. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront across our vast, 63-acre facility. The successful candidate will support the 1,000 working men and woman on our waterfront by passionately pursuing innovative and effective safety solutions that focus primarily on employee wellbeing, manufacturing efficiency and environmental awareness

Detailed Description:


* Provide general support of the EHS department.
* Promote and assist production with embracing a proactive safety culture.
* Observe and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with company safety standards as well as all local, state and federal guidelines.
* Provide workers compensation support.
* First level support for documenting incidents to identify cause and determine detailed proactive measures to prevent such instances in the future.
* Support EHS team in order to analyze and recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
* Provide support for safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
* Working with onsite medical clinic.
* Provide support for new-employee and contractor health and safety orientations, and participate in the development of materials for these presentations.
* Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
* The ability to handle minor medical treatment and properly triage minor medical injuries or industrial incidents.
* Provide support for environmental spill prevention and response.
* Assist with OSHA, WIDNR, and Coast Guard inspections.
* Break down of time: 50% field support / 50% office support.
* Additional projects as assigned.
* Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.
* Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety Policies.
* Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:


* High School Diploma
* Must have attained required credits and be considered to have obtained junior or senior level status in an accredited Occupational Health & Safety program
* Valid Driver's License
* Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Power Point

* Bilingual language skills (oral & written) a plus
* Active listening skills
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication skills
