Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities:The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025 to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.
What We’re Looking For:
Gain experience in software development and maintenance for the following areas:
- Iridium Ground Control Software and supporting applications deployed to both on-prem and AWS Cloud based platforms
- Iridium Satellite Data Products packaging applications.
- Work on large scale infrastructure providing the distribution and storage of satellite data.
- Work within a formal CI/CD development and deployment environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop optimized code for both scalability and performance.
- Leverage Open Source solutions to implement system/functional requirements
- Work within the Agile/Scrum framework for SW development (Atlassian tool suite desired)
- Update issue/feature data in Atlassian Project/Software tracking tools
- Effectively communicate to all team members, through briefings and documentation, planned implementation, or issue resolutions
- Work closely with Product Owners on application Features and Bugs.
Skills You’ll Obtain:
- Real-world experience in chosen field of interest and related topics through multiple hands-on projects
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Working on a formal development team using Agile methodology
- Experience CI/CD Pipeline processes leveraging both Atlassian tool suites and GitLab.
- Experience code development on Linux based platforms ( C++, Java, Python )
- Experience code development on MicroService AWS platforms.

Things You Must Bring to the Table:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution
- Degree focus on Computer Science and/or Software Engineering
- US Citizenship Required
- Ability to work in the office at least 3 days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders (Chandler, AZ)
