Joining Engineer Co-Op - Novelis Global R&T

The Novelis Kennesaw Global Research and Technology team is seeking a Joining Intern. The person in this role will report to the manager of Joining and Additive Manufacturing cluster. The ideal candidate will be responsible for aluminum alloy joining process development, testing, and reporting. This position will play a crucial role in supporting product qualification and development.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct literature research about current joining methods and practices for the proposed material combinations.
• Develop and optimize aluminum alloy joining processes.
• Conduct tests and analyze results.
• Document and report research findings.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s student in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or relevant fields
• Hands on experience in resistance spot welding, self-pierce riveting
• Hands on experience in metallography, mechanical testing, electron microscopy
• Good writing and presentation skills
• Must be available from May to August 2025.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD student in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant fields
• Self-motivated and be able to work independently with minimum supervision
• Experience in Design of Experiment, data analytics, and modeling/simulation
• Proven record in conference presentation and journal publication
