Journeyman Plumber

Hourly Wage: $31.19/Regular/Full-Time
Primary responsibility will be to maintain, repair, retrofit, and install plumbing fixtures that are used in residential, industrial, and commercial buildings.
Examples of Work Performed:
Having Journeyman skills as a Plumber, incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of septic systems i.e. septic tank, septic lines, and leach fields.
Will maintain and repair sewer system lift stations.
Will establish a maintenance schedule for all plumbing fixtures, toilets and faucets, and lift station wells.
Will be responsible for taking water samples of facilities that are on their own wells. Water samples to be tested and the results mailed to the EPA.
Will perform inspections on existing water systems to determine present conditions of plumbing and fixtures.
Incumbent will work with limited supervision because of the area traveled to provide the service. Will be responsible and accountable for all work performed and will provide a daily log.
Will be responsible for the training of a plumber apprentice.
Will monitor the progress of the apprentice with written reports and will provide these reports to the Mechanical Supervisor for an annual evaluation.
Incumbent constructs, erects, installs, and repairs a variety of skilled trade work with emphasis on plumbing systems, well pumps, and pressure tanks, new installation, maintenance, repair, and/or retrofit, using detailed plans, blueprints, drawings, sketches, or verbal instruction.
Reviews building plans and inspects structures to assess material and equipment needs.
Incumbent must be fully knowledgeable of the Uniform Plumbing Code which will be followed and applied during inspections.
Ensures all facilities are free from leaks in domestic potable water lines and sanitary drains.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of all plumbing applications with emphasis on low-pressure domestic water supplies of 40/120 psi.
Knowledge of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC).
Knowledge with the ability to read plumbing blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and hand drawings showing plumbing layouts and materials used.
Knowledge of safety regulations and occupational hazards associated with the plumbing trade.
Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the plumbing trade and the ability to maintain them in good working condition. Skilled in the use of the tools and equipment necessary to perform the tasks required of the profession.
Knowledge of personal protective equipment required to be worn in a hazardous work environment.
Ability to read plumbing blueprints to understand pipe sizing, pump sizing, septic tank capacity when repairing plumbing system.
Ability to use communication and organizational skills to coordinate with peers, supervise, and train others to accomplish completion of tasks, projects and work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work independently and productively with limited supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, kneel or bend for long periods, and occasionally work in confined and cramped spaces.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all different weather conditions, and potentially hazardous environments containing methane gas.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or State Certified G.E.D.
Five years of hands on work experience as a Journeyman Plumber in residential or commercial environment with documentation.
References may be requested for work experience history.
Completion of successful completion of a vocational training or apprenticeship program for Journeyman Plumbers.
Required to pass pre-employment drug test.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
