ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a Junior Level Computer/Electrical Engineer to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. (An Engineering degree is required and for this role we can't consider Computer Science majors.) This role works on the TFDM System (Terminal Flight Data Manager) that improves air traffic management and efficiency at airports. Be a part of a great mission keeping air travel safe!
* Provide software/adaptation analysis, design/development, testing, and system integration for the Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) program. Applicable functional areas include proficiency and knowledge of real-time design, development, testing and interfacing of software and computer hardware systems. Comprehensive software development skills and experience with programming languages used for National Airspace Systems (NAS) and NAS support systems
* Will work specifically with the TFDM Software Development Team using C/C++, Java, XML, JavaScript, shell scripting, database concepts (Postgres and/or Oracle), GIS Tools, Red Hat Linux, Ada, Redmine, Git, and various homegrown tools. TFDM Lab assignments and Data Collection is essential.
* Communicate technical issues with non-technical people
* Perform Data collection, Software Installations, and Workstation Backup
* Perform adaptation/software analysis and implement code fixes, adaptation changes, and new functionality
* Perform peer/code reviews

Required
* Bachelor of Science in Computer or Electrical Engineering (cannot consider Computer Science degrees for this FAA labor category)
* Coursework in programming languages: C/C++, Java, XML, Shell Scripting, or Java Script
* Basic understanding of Database Concepts
* Basic understanding of operating systems (UNIX/LINUX strongly preferred)
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work in a fast paced and challenging environment
* Permanent Residency or US Citizenship required for the FAA Public Trust clearance.
* Ability to travel (approximately 25% or less) and ability to work on-site at the FAA Technical Center.
