Summary
The primary focus of the Junior Designer is to develop and design 3D modeling solutions for vehicle soft trim, with an emphasis on trunk trim, cargo, and rear window trim, aligning with customer needs and the capabilities of the manufacturing team. Knowledge of metal formability is a plus, and preferred candidates will have experience working with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers. As a Junior Designer, you will collaborate with various teams—customers, tooling, manufacturing, process engineering, and tier-two suppliers—to conduct design and manufacturability analysis, provide feedback, and execute solutions. Design development experience with OEMs is highly desirable, and simulation skills would be advantageous. This role requires professionalism and strong communication as a key interface with customers.

Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Junior Designer
- Develop detailed design models using CAD software.
- Propose dimensional and tolerancing solutions (GD&T).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize product specifications.
- Modify designs based on trial runs and feedback.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Document design processes and create reports for stakeholders.
- Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Prepare and present design proposals, including sketches and models.
- Conduct research to adapt designs for manufacturability.
- Resolve design, testing, and manufacturing challenges.
- Maintain comprehensive records of project data, revisions, and feedback.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
- 1 year of experience in vehicle interior engineering is preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD modeling and management systems.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant manufacturing software.
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter, NX Siemens, and Catia V5.
- Ability to perform tolerance studies and RSS stack-ups.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret technical instructions in various formats and handle abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to read and interpret scientific, technical, and legal documents.
- Strong communication skills for responding to customer inquiries and presenting information to management.
- Advanced mathematical concepts, including frequency distribution, test reliability, and variance analysis.
- Regularly required to sit for long periods, use hands for tasks, and communicate effectively.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
