About the Position:
GPTech is seeking an entry-level Civil/Sustainable Infrastructure Engineer with a background in civil and/or power infrastructure engineering to support GPTech programs on domestic and international development projects funded by federal, state, and local agencies. The position will assist with planning, design, and program management of vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects related to energy, transportation, water, and structures, and prepare related technical analyses, drafting products, and reports, all while ensuring work products align with relevant codes and standards. The ideal candidate will be organized, results driven, detail oriented, and able to execute assigned tasks independently with a high level of accuracy.
This position is based in GPTech’s Arlington, Virginia, headquarters office. We work under a hybrid model and require this position to be in the office a minimum of two days per week.

Responsibilities:
Through training and experience on the job, the candidate will be expected to learn and execute the following tasks:
- Support senior engineering staff on project analysis, design, and review for domestic and international projects.
- Prepare technical analysis documents, review construction design documents, and perform construction quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) oversight for ongoing and future infrastructure projects associated with the candidate’s engineering discipline.
- Prepare civil engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents using engineering design programs, e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, HydroCAD, STAAD Pro, RAM Elements.
- Maintain and review medium- to large-scale construction schedules and material takeoff schedules.
- Collaborate with geographic information system specialists in preparing maps and mapping databases to support feasibility study, planning, and design projects.
- Work with senior engineers and/or program management team to track deliverables, prepare meeting minutes, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university or similar degree from a related field (engineering, architecture, construction management) and demonstrated knowledge of civil/energy infrastructure engineering
- Knowledge of civil engineering theories and practices
- Knowledge of vertical and/or horizontal civil infrastructure construction processes
- Familiarity with cost estimating, bill of materials, and budgeting
- Experience communicating for wide ranging audiences
- Eligibility to work in the United States and obtain security clearance
- Proficiency with software tools for research, analysis, reporting, communications, and collaboration, including AutoCAD/Microstation and structural analysis software
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced technical degree in civil, energy, electrical (or related) engineering or advanced degree in humanitarian engineering, international development, or public policy
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Microstation, Revit, or other CADD software suite
- Prior experience in developing country infrastructure or energy programs or projects (experience may include work experience or volunteer experience with organizations such as Engineers Without Borders)
- Knowledge of overall humanitarian and sustainable infrastructure sector challenges, opportunities, and solutions, including participatory development, disaster risk, environmental issues, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and infrastructure reliability and resiliency
- Fluency in French, Spanish, Arabic, or other language relevant to international development work
