Stansberry Research in seeking a Junior Copywriter to join our dynamic and creative team in Baltimore, MD. The primary goal for the Junior Copywriter is to write short form copy that drives new emails to our in-house file. This position will help build out and optimize sales funnels that convert these free names into paid subscribers and will be a key driver in helping establish our new lead-gen strategy as it grows and evolves. The Junior Copywriter will work closely with/be mentored by a senior copywriter with many years of industry experience. The ideal candidate for this role MUST be insatiably curious, highly competitive, well-read, entrepreneurial, honest, and organized. The most successful writers tend to be the hardest-working employees at the firm, because they recognize that they’re the creative lifeblood of our business. Responsibilities:- Generate all assets required to drive qualified new emails to our file using a combination of ads, emails, advertorials, video scripts, tweaking long-form copy, and more as needed
- Work closely with one of our most experienced senior copywriters but be independent in most day-to-day writing
- Strive to remain informed and up to date on the industry through all methods - including but not limited to books, news articles, and competitor’s copy – as part of your never-ending pursuit of our next big idea
- Participate in regular team meetings (virtual + in-person), especially as we launch this new initiative - this will be where we discuss new ideas/strategies, as well as analyze data on current campaigns to improve
- Participate in regular copy review meetings, to discuss what’s working, brainstorm new ideas, and critique other writers’ copy
- 1-3 years of past copywriting experience is preferred, but not necessary
- Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts is preferred, but not necessary
- Must have an entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to work under little supervision and tight deadlines.
- Must be extremely focused
- Must be able to generate outside-the-box ideas and new strategies we can test
- Must have strong attention to detail and grammar skills
- Must be able to multitask, handling multiple projects at one time
- Must have a strong interest in the news, politics, finance, and global affairs
- Must possess a strong interest and passion for investing copy
- Must be comfortable selling, and capable of closing deals
- Should be able to travel somewhat frequently, depending on business needs
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
- Visual acuity for reading and using the computer
- Ability to hear
- Ability to freely move about the office
- Ability to use the phone/computer/keyboard/mouse/general office equipment for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate with others in order to exchange information
- Fluency in the English language
