About the Job
A real estate firm is seeking an experienced professional to join their growing team as a Junior Property Accountant in their New York City office.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review accurate monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for real estate portfolios. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Prepare cash flow statements, ensuring proper tracking of income and expenditures for various properties.
- Oversee AP/AR functions, ensuring timely payment processing and accurate recording of transactions.
- Reconcile bank accounts, property-level financials, and tenant ledgers on a regular basis.
- Assist with internal and external audits to ensure adherence to financial controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Utilize MRI or similar property management software to maintain accurate property accounting records.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including property managers and financial controllers, to ensure financial accuracy and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Perform other duties, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 6-8 years of experience in property accounting, particularly in commercial, retail, and hospitality real estate sectors.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
- Hands-on knowledge of AP and AR processes. Implementing procedures, reconciliation of AP and AR, entering AP and AR into MRI.
- 2 Years of current experience with MRI accounting software.
- Solid understanding of AP/AR processes and how to streamline them.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
