WSP is currently initiating a search for a Junior Structural CADD Designer for our Valhalla, New York office. The following locations will also be considered: Troy, NY. The Valhalla Office provides transportation and infrastructure services to numerous agencies and private clients in Western New York and the Northeast United States. Under general to minimal supervision, this position will provide technical design and CADD support on projects to produce designs and specifications to be used for planning, transportation, infrastructure, and technical services business lines. Tasks may include developing skills and generating CADD designs on various assigned projects of basic to moderate complexity. Generates accurate and concise design phase deliverables including reports, technical memoranda, design manuals, plans and profiles, models, sections, details, specifications, and material lists. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, accuracy, and functionality.
Your Impact
- The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in drafting CADD software including the ability to execute tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Key elements of the successful candidates’ experience and capabilities shall include:
- Utilize AutoCAD, Revit and/or Bentley MicroStation software(s) to create engineering contract documents (CADD drawings) and create 3D design and models.
- Eagerness and demonstrated ability to efficiently adapt to changes in existing software and learn new software.
- Read and understand plans, design sketches and drawings.
- Draft and develop engineering contract documents as directed from engineering mark-ups, sketches, detailed drawings, and verbal direction
- Assist office staff in use of CAD software, including troubleshooting of CAD issues.
- Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
- Adhere to WSP USA quality Assurance Policies/Procedures, CADD protocol, as well as client standards and requirements.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- 0-2 years’ experience.
- AutoCADD certification.
- Familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
- Research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset.
- Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may occasionally extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
- Experience with NYSDOT CADD standards
- Digital Delivery software experience including REVIT, Bentley Open Road Modeler, Bentley Open Bridge Modeler, Inventor, AutoDesk InfraWorks, etc.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $39,500- $65,230
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
