Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented knowledge management professional to join its Proposal Strategy and Operations team
Responsibilities include writing, editing, tracking, and maintaining quality and consistency of corporate information assets, specifically project descriptions and similar experience reports for proposals
The position requires a combination of writing, editing, records management, and business development database systems user support and training
A hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days on-site at a Westat office location is preferred, remote work arrangements will be considered.
Job Responsibilities:
• Performs a range of knowledge management tasks that support Westat's business development and proposal efforts.
• Maintain and grow corporate business development information assets, content library, and capabilities taxonomy.
• Write and edit corporate project descriptions for internal communication and proposals that are responsive to relevant experience and past performance RFP requirements.
• Work with business development staff and subject matter experts to create content needed to respond to relevant experience and past performance sections of proposals.
• Provide support to staff in the development and updating of staff resumes, working with staff to ensure annual resume updates, and providing support when tailored resumes are required for proposals, marketing, or other needs.
• Provide support in the writing of proposal boilerplate, including securing approvals from content owners, managing boilerplate library, and responding to requests for reusable proposal content.
• Serve as a resource on available content to proposal teams, responding to requests about creating, updating, and finalizing content and assisting users with locating content.
• Analyze and strategize improvements to processes and systems.
• Maintain and update the knowledge databases that store resumes, project descriptions, and corporate and staff capabilities taxonomy, working with IT staff who provide technical design and support.
• Train new and existing users of content database systems to create and update content and provide day-to-day user support.
• Assess and implement AI solutions for content development, information management, and process improvement.
• Manage multiple tasks with sometimes quick turnaround deadlines.
Basic Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of knowledge management or proposal content classification experience.
• Writing, editing, and quality control skills with the ability to learn and consistently apply style guidelines is essential, familiarity with APA style.
• Experience with MS Office/Office 365, virtual platforms (MS Teams, Zoom etc.), and collaboration platforms (SharePoint, Box etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in business development, including proposal preparation, past performance reporting.
• Experience working in federal government contracting
• Experience in large-scale document management; specialized trainings or certifications
• Experience with business development taxonomies and content library management.
