Job Summary:
The Temporary- Assistant Athletic Trainer will take an active role in providing on-site athlete care, sport event coverage, and record-keeping of the athletic training program. The incumbent will assist the sports medicine staff in the running of their department and the daily operation of their jobs.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Athletic Trainer with pre-training and pre-game set up of training room and fields. This involves preparation of hydration, medical, and rehabilitation equipment and providing player care/treatments to prepare players for their daily activity.
- Assist with the post-training and post-game cleanup of water coolers and medical equipment.
- Assist the Athletic Trainer with treatments and rehab of athlete's post-practice.
- Ensure that the athletes are hydrated during training sessions by preparing water bottles and checking in with athletes during appropriate breaks in training sessions.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and organized training room, office, and storage area.
- Assist medical staff with any additional player support needed on a daily basis. (i.e., taking athletes to doctor appointments, etc.)
- Ensure documentation is done in ARMS; status reports sent out.
- Attend games played away from DHSP.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree (4 Year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) In Athletic Training
- 0-2 years of related work experience
- Experience and knowledge of rehab programs
- Experience and knowledge of prevention, recognition, evaluation, and care of athletes
- Previous experience working in soccer or other team sports preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, initiative, and leadership abilities
- Must be able to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and some holidays
- Proficient in Spanish is preferred
Pay Scale: $17.01 - $24.81
