POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Evidence-Based Program Coordinator at the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA serves others by intentionally welcoming, connecting, and supporting them and inviting them to get involved and give back to the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position will have a key impact on both the delivery of quality health and well-being programs. Participant numbers, revenue (directly or indirectly) and member satisfaction should rise when this position is effective. This position is a front-line staff assignment while on duty and seeks to create an atmosphere in which total customer satisfaction is achieved, both with internal and external customers, in the context of the delivery of YMCA health & well-being programs. Instructor will effectively deliver LIVESTRONG at the Y: 12-week program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in health & wellness, physical education, kinesiology, exercise science or similar
- Bilingual candidates preferred.
- High school diploma
- Department Specific Insurance Trainings (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
- Engaging with Cancer Survivors eLearning course
- Foundations of Group Exercise Instructor or Foundations of Strength and Conditioning Instructor OR equivalent
- LIVESTRONG @ the YMCA Instructor certification
- Obtain and remain compliant with all certifications and standards assigned by YMCA of the USA and the AMA YMCA.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certifications and Child Abuses Prevention, Anti-Harassment, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication Awareness, and Slips, Trips, and Falls trainings required within 30 days of hire.

- Perform assessments of participants.
- Create and individualized exercise program from assessment results and from using Listen First skills with members.
- Meet with members to implement a new program.
- Determine starting reps, sets, weight, duration, and determine, if any, modifications/adaptations may be needed to the exercise or equipment.
- Teach and demonstrate utilization of equipment, correct exercise technique and safety considerations, and how to fill out the exercise log sheet.
- Be able to make minor adjustments to exercise programs as needed in response to member adaptations/tolerance to activity per session.
- Understanding of and ability to address the unique needs and concerns of cancer survivors, resulting from their cancer diagnoses and treatments.
- Understanding, empathy, and ability to connect with and develop relationships with and among cancer survivors.
- Other duties assigned by the Evidence Based Program Coordinator.
