Position Summary: Under the leadership of the department Manager, Physician Services, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Nurse Manager is an active member of the Physician Services team that collects data and provides comfort measures and care to patients. The LPN is responsible for providing care that is appropriate for the patient’s developmental age and is culturally sensitive. The LPN Nurse Manager analyzes the effectiveness of office operations while effectively interacting with patients, family and other medical office staff members. The LPN maintains standards of professional nursing. Basic Qualifications: Requires a high school diploma or a GED and graduation from a Licensed Practical Nurse program from an accredited vocational or community college. Requires up to one year of work-related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. - Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:
Requires and maintains a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse and a current certificate in Basic Life Saving (BLS). (If BLS verification is not current upon hire, it must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.) Requires and maintains a current and valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Essential Job Responsibilities: - Manages the daily activities of the medical office.
- Prepares monthly work schedules for employees and ensures that there is sufficient staff coverage seven days a week during the hours of normal operations.
- Assists in the hiring, training, discipline and termination of employees.
- Assists in probationary and annual employee evaluations.
- Follows all Physician Services and CRHS policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations and JCAHO requirements.
- Provides out-patients with quality patient care services as directed by the physician and consistent with the standards of care established by Physician Services and CRHS.
- Functions as a part of an interdisciplinary team with positive interpersonal communication skills when communicating with patients, families, physicians and medical office staff members.
- Documents patient care which reflects nursing intervention, patient response to care provided, including evidence of appropriate patient/family education, and the understanding of these instructions noted in the medical record.
- Schedules consultations and referrals as needed and calls for prescriptions as directed.
- Answers patients’ questions and ascertains patients’ needs, acts upon routine requests and relays information.
- Notifies patients of test results as directed and any follow-up visits requested by the physician.
- Communicates and reinforces patient care plan and education plan with patient and family and assesses the patient or family’s ability to comprehend.
- Ensures examination rooms are stocked with supplies and reorders supplies as necessary.
- Serves as a clinical leader, implementing nursing concepts, and mentoring other staff as necessary.
- Remains current on innovations, developments, new procedures and techniques in nursing care to provide quality nursing care services.
- Assumes responsibility for safety, infection control and performance improvement as part of CRHS’s efforts to provide quality care and services. Performs all associated duties, responsibilities and tasks.
- Presents a professional image to CRHS’s medical staff, co-workers, physicians, patients and family members.
- Attends professional development programs and in-service training and meets the minimum requirement for continuing professional education.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings and addresses any staffing issues.
- Leads staff in an effective, supportive manner
- Assists wellness works representative with scheduling and staffing of onsite occupational flu vaccine clinics, COVID vaccine clinics, and random onsite drug screens
- Ensures all charges are entered for all occupational services including patients seen in the clinic as well as onsite vaccine clinics and random drug screens
- Coordinates care for patients with occupational health nurses at Helena and West Frasier
- Monthly audits for risk management
- Responsible for ordering drug screening supplies
- Trains and certifies new staff at Convenient Care, Helena, West Frasier, and Crisp Regional lab on drug screens and breath alcohol tests
- Answers calls after hours as needed from staff and providers to ensure the clinic is running smoothly
- Trains all new clinic staff for front and back office
- Trains new occupational nurses at Helena and West Frasier
- Communicates with third party wellness workers – sending in medical documents and drug screening results daily
- Often communicating with ED to manage workflow (take personal calls from ED)
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.

- Demonstrates professional conduct and adherence to all safety, confidentiality, and HIPAA standards.
- Promotes teamwork with the entire staff, as well as other contacts within the department as measured by observations of manager and co-workers.
- Adheres to the CRHS Standards of Behavior as measured by observations of staff, as well as outside and other inside customers.
- Verbalizes all core competencies of the unit and department.
- Complies with all regulatory requirements including the National Patient Safety Goals as observed by peers, supervisor and all members of the healthcare team.
- Actively participates as a member of the healthcare team by attending all mandated in-service and a minimum of 75% of the unit staff meetings and employee forums.
