Job Description
Eurofins Environment Testing is hiring for a Laboratory Analyst position in Barberton, OH location.Candidates living within a commutable distance of Barberton, OH are encouraged to apply.Full time Monday-Friday with overtime opportunities
The Analyst I prepares and analyzes environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to scientific and environmental protection methodology in compliance with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures.
Analyst I responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform routine and advanced maintenance on the instrumentation
- Tune and calibrate instrumentation
- Analyze samples and associated QC
- Review, work up, and assemble all supporting data
- Read, understand, and carry out SOPs required by EPA or company methods, governing agencies, clients, and our internal QC department
- Perform additional responsibilities (i.e., audit, verification, etc.) with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
- Performs routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
- Preparation of samples using standard techniques o Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques o Calculating data o Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor o Performing routine instrument maintenance
- Implement new methodologies with assistance
- Understand and use LIMS
- Make working calibration standards
- Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with Eurofins environmental health safety and Quality assurance standards
- Responsible for general housekeeping in his/her work area
- Be self-motivated to improve technical skills and operations
- Have strong problem solving skills
- Function under high stress levels
- Multitask
- Ability to become trained and competent on complex instrumentation including but not limited to gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, and instrument specific data systems.
- Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
- Aliquots and weighs samples
- Washes glassware
- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
- 1+ years of PFAS experience preferred
- Ability to use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts
- Ability to complete work within time and quality constraints
- Can work independently following written or verbal instructions
- Cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing
- Experience with LC/MS-MS operation and general maintenance
- Experience with chromatography
- Able to follow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines:
o Metals preparation and analysis
o Gas Chromatography
o Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry
o Radio Chemistry
o Wet Chemistry
o High Resolution preparation and analysis
o Low Resolution preparation and analysis
Qualifications
- Minimally High school Chemistry coursework, basic laboratory experience
- BS or BA in chemistry or related field preferred. 3 years laboratory experience may substitute for degree.
- LC-MS/MS or GCMS experience
- Prior chromatography experience
- Previous production-Oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
