About the Job
This position provides support to teaching faculty in the gross anatomy laboratory, allowing them to focus on student education and instruction.
Responsibilities:- Day to day maintenance and support of anatomy laboratory. This indudcs laundry, dissection supplies e.g., gloves, instruments and PPE for students and staff.
- Assisting with cadaver preparation for anatomy labor.itory and removal for cremains, etc.
- Preparation of materials and module rooms for neuroanatomy sessions.
- Assisting anatomy director with storage and record keeping for cadavers.
- Assisting faculty with prosection preparation.
Education requirement: College degree (must have demonstrated that level of drive and follow through)
Prior experience: Handling of deceased persons and prior teaching experience a plus
Other skills/requirements:
Willing to work with bodies of deceased persons; ability to work without direct supervision; ability to understand directions provided in spoken, written, and diagrammatic fashion and report in the same fashions; ability to read/comprehend maps; ability to work for extended periods while wearing surgirnl mask, gown, and gloves: ability to work with and be sensitive to graduate students in a demanding and sometimes psychologically difficult environment; ability to accommodate frequently-changing direction; ability to take on prosecution responsibilities, or willingness lo learn; ability to lift 50 lb. unassisted; ability to run an electric lift including moving into position: ability to work in refrigerated environment intermittently ( 4 degrees C): familiarity with basic hand tools; able to load, run, and unload dishwasher, clothes washer, and clothes dryer: ability to work at table height and floor height; ability to singlehandedly move 450 lb. wheeled dissection beds \Vith donors; ability to demonstrate care for the students, donors, staff, and faculty of the lab.
Physical demands: Ability to work at table height and floor height: ability to lift 50 lb. unassisted; ability to singlehandedly move 450 lh. wheeled dissection beds through narrow doorways.
Environmental demands: Intermittent ( up to 20 minutes) work in a refrigerated room, long periods of standing on a tile/concrete, environment is often wet, climate control of area is imperfect ( expect several days per year without heat or air conditioning; occasional work outside, potentially in adverse weather).
