Director of Laboratory

Location: Lawton, OK

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Laboratory to lead our partner Medical Center's laboratory services in Lawton, OK.

Position Summary:

The Director of the Laboratory plays a pivotal role in overseeing the overall operation of the laboratory, ensuring the provision of high-quality diagnostic services. This encompasses planning, implementing, and evaluating laboratory services for inpatient, outpatient, and reference work in alignment with hospital policies and medical staff directives.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management:
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the laboratory department.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient workflow, resource allocation, and staff management.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Clinical Oversight:
  • Ensure the quality and appropriateness of patient care provided by the laboratory, collaborating with the Medical Director.
  • Perform clinical duties as needed, maintaining a high level of clinical expertise.
  • Provide advanced clinical education and mentorship to laboratory staff.
• Quality and Compliance:
  • Actively participate in laboratory and hospital Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with JCAHO, CAP, OSHA, and CLIA '88 accreditation standards.
• Financial Management:
  • Manage departmental resources and budget effectively.
  • Prepare, monitor, and evaluate the annual operating and capital budget.
• Collaboration:
  • Foster positive relationships with the medical staff and other departments.
  • Actively develop interdepartmental relations to facilitate smooth workflow and communication.
• Professional Development:
  • Stay current with advancements in laboratory medicine and management through seminars and meetings.
  • Provide age-appropriate care to all patients.

Qualifications:

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related science field is required. Master's degree preferred.
• Experience:
  • Five (5) years of general laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a Director/Manager in a clinical laboratory (preferably in an acute care facility).
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Must possess a valid license/certification as required by the state of Oklahoma.
