Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Represent landlords and tenants in complex real estate litigation matters
- Handle evictions, lease disputes, and rent regulation issues
- Draft and review legal documents related to real estate transactions and litigation
- Appear in housing court and other relevant forums to advocate for clients
- Provide counsel on New York real estate laws, regulations, and best practices
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in real estate law
- Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution processes
- Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff on high-profile cases
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
- 4-5+ years of experience in real estate litigation, with a focus on landlord/tenant law
- Strong knowledge of New York City and State housing laws and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven track record of success in housing court proceedings
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with both residential and commercial real estate matters
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with New York City's rent stabilization and rent control laws
- Experience in handling complex real estate transactions and disputes
- Knowledge of condominium and cooperative law
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software
