LOCATION: Midland, TX
CONTEXT: Seeking a Landman/Water Resource Specialist that has knowledge of Texas permitting requirements, as well as experience negotiating and securing contracts related to oil and gas water resource management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Frequent interaction and coordinate with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), State Land Office (SLO), and private landowners as required to support project requirements.
- Develop and maintain excellent landowner relationships.
- Coordinate with various local, state, and federal regulatory entities as required to support project requirements.
- Acquire and dispose of surface tracts as needed.
- Appraise and negotiate monetary settlements regarding surface damage.
- Apply appropriate company environmental, health and safety policies and principles when performing job duties.
- Manage complaints, and resolve grievances that may arise during surface related business activities.
- Research title and tax records as needed.
- Landowner negotiations for temporary access.
- Utilize Google Earth to map potential routes, clients and sources.
- Read and analyze USGS topographic maps.
- Record sales, transfer volumes, and other activities in an organized and efficient manner to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of relevant experience as a surface landman, right of way agent, or similar role.
- Water resource education, related field experience or landman background.
- 1-2 years of experience in water related operations.
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work well with peers, surface owners, governmental entities, and other inside and outside stakeholders.
- Ability to anticipate project needs and proactively meet them.
- Strong organization, task prioritizing, and record keeping skills/habits.
- Advanced knowledge of Surface Use, Water Use, and Easement agreements.
- Ability to understand and analyze contract provisions.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
