Booker Design Collaborative (BDC) is a landscape architecture and urban planning practice based in Louisville, Kentucky. We connect people to places through thoughtful planning and design of landscapes. Minimum Required Experience
- Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Landscape Architecture required;
- 5-10 years of industry experience working in a landscape architecture or multi-disciplinary design office such as architectural or civil engineering;
- Position is in-person, full-time; and,
- Registered Professional (PLA) required or highly recommended.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD;
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign graphic software;
- Proficiency in Sketchup and Lumion preferred;
- Basic knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines;
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to work in team environment; and,
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with BDC owner, client, and stakeholders to define project scope, goals, deliverables, resources, budget, and timeline
- Responsible for the management of projects including interfacing with clients, other discipline managers, local, state, and federal review staff
- Responsible for overseeing BDC staff work toward completion of deadlines in accordance with the scope of work and industry standards.
- Assist BDC owner with staff development and identifying training needs
- Provide clear, effective, and constant communications with clients
- Coordinate drawings with Architects and other consultants
- Responsible for quality of the work performed, client service, utilization of staff, reputation of office, contract management, and project profitability
- Responsible for project financial wellness including completing projects within budget and according to profitability goals, invoicing and accounts receivable.
- Assist in the adherence of Quality Control/Quality Assurance policies
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, response to RFPs, and actively conduct business development as directed by BDC owner
- Actively pursue and communicate project opportunities
- Represent the firm at various public and private functions
- Engage with the community toward giving back as a representative of BDC
- Advanced knowledge of Landscape Architecture design requirements and principles
- Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time, even after project completion
- Ability to lead, coach, inspire and motivate teams of people
