Summary
This position is responsible for assisting in landscape design and development, site engineering, and planning-related work. Starts to perform assignments independently or with a lessening degree of supervision with instruction as to the general results expected and with guidance from the other professionals on unusual or complex problems. This position requires a broad knowledge of landscape architecture principles and practices. Candidates must be capable of self-sufficiency and working on all aspects of projects.
Essential Functions
- Prepares design plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and contract documents for landscape architecture and engineering projects. These may include planned communities, urban design, redevelopment projects, park design, and residential subdivisions.
- Develops business and manages projects for multiple public and private sector clients.
- May serve as the contractor/client contact.
- Communicates with Project Managers for project guidance and status.
- Conducts periodic construction site observations for the project and attends project meetings as required by clients.
- May assist with performing monthly billing of clients for work completed.
- May assist in the preparation of proposals
- Routinely communicates with Principals, Design Group Leaders, Project Managers, CADD technicians, engineering technicians, surveyors, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and administrative staff.
- Ensures that each project is completed on time and within budget.
- Prepares written reports documenting work.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must be able to work with clients to define and document requirements, address technical concerns, and provide project status.
- Knowledge of landscape architecture construction techniques and plant materials.
- Proficient in storm drainage, water & sewer, stormwater management, site grading, and sediment control.
- Ability to cost estimate landscape architecture and engineering designs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer literate with emphasis on continued development/knowledge of various landscape architecture software programs as appropriate. Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License.
Education and Experience
- BS in Landscape Architecture or technical equivalent.
- RLA, preferably in GA and SC is a plus.
- 2+ years of landscape design experience. Job Details
