### Working/Functional Title
Late Night Circulation Desk Supervisor
### Position Summary
Half-time position (20 hours per week) in Circulation. Independently coordinates and oversees the Late Night Operations (11:45 p.m. -- 7:45 a.m. Sunday-Thursday) at the MSU Main Library during the Fall and Spring semesters. Will be responsible for the safety of patrons, security within the building, safeguarding the collections, various inventories; serving as a liaison with custodial staff and DPPS personnel during each shift and provides information and assistance to library users and staff. Responds to health, safety and security emergencies and contacts appropriate authorities or medical personnel as necessary. Overseeing Circulation department workflow, supervision/training of student staff, resolving patron complaints, explaining and interpreting complex library policies, creating and troubleshooting computer records, cash handling, handling non-routine situations, etc. Troubleshooting printers and other building equipment, other duties as assigned. Duties associated with this position will involve moderate physical effort. The library is not open 24 hours in the summer and during breaks, so work hours will be adjusted within open hours.

### Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an office setting; experience with integrated library systems; experience within the last one to two years working a public service desk in an academic library; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
### Desired Qualifications
Detail oriented with high level of accuracy; ability to identify and resolve problems exercising excellent judgment; ability to handle varied, multiple, and competing project priorities. Experience with supervising and/or training others. Knowledge of the following websites and computer software: FOLIO, print.msu.edu, ILLiad, the MSU Library online catalog, and MSU Library electronic resources. Detailed familiarity with MSU Library policies and University Enterprise Business System (EBS). Ability to collaborate well with others and help to foster a welcoming environment. Must have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and be able to interact professionally and effectively with the Library's multi-cultural/multi-generational students, faculty, staff, and community patrons.
