We are hiring full-time and part-time Laundry Assistants to join our dynamic care team at Heatherwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Newport!

As a member of our housekeeping team, you perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department to ensure that the laundry department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
Education and Experience:
- No education required, on-the-job training provided. A minimum of one (1) year experience in laundry operations preferred, but not necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet the laundry needs of the facility.
- Ensure laundry process completion and delivery of adequate linen levels, in a timely way.
- Assure that all laundry machinery, equipment are in a safe and efficient working condition.
- Maintains chemicals under safe conditions at all times.
- Remove torn, worn, soiled linen or clothing from inventory.
- Mend and iron as necessary.
- Complies with privacy practices and protects residents’ health information.
- Other duties assigned by managerial team.
Specific Requirements:
- The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Must be knowledgeable of laundry practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing laundry functions in the long-term care facility.
- Must possess a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of laundry areas, must perform regular inspections of laundry areas for sanitation, order, and safety.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing laundry practices.
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition/incident.
