Laundry Attendant
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Job Summary: The hotel Laundry Attendant is an hourly position reporting directly to the Executive Housekeeper. The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the overall laundering, cleanliness, and inventory of hotel linen.
Essential Functions:
Laundry Functions:
- Pre-sort linens to locate and salvage stained or torn items
- Record counts for discarded linens
- Load and operate commercial washers and dryers
- Fold and stack towels, sheets and other linens
- Inspect linens for stains/tears
- Report equipment problems to maintenance
- Clean laundry rooms, storerooms and organize storage areas
- Store clean linen on storage selves in laundry room and rotate linen as needed
- Use folding machine for folding linen
- Assist with monthly linen inventory
- During morning check out assists Housekeepers with striping of beds
- Other duties as assigned
Safety and Security:
- Coordinates with local health, safety, fire, and building inspectors to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations
- Recognizes, reports, and corrects conditions which may create security and safety hazards
- Understands and adheres to policies and procedures for the hotel’s key control system
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and be organized
- Good time management skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
- Ability to schedule, prioritize, and perform work
- Ability to complete Brand required training within Brand specified timeframe
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
- Ability to push/pull up to 200lb housekeeping cart
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, and be able to bend at the waist and stretch above the head
- This position works with and around several different chemicals during the course of the day
- This position works with and round blood borne pathogens
Due to the nature of the position, you can expect to walk around the hotel and standup the majority of the time. Work environment involves risks or discomforts which require safety precautions. Use of safe work place practices is required.
