Summary:
Provide timely, accurate, and complete dimensional Data and reports to Internal and External customers. Provide technical leadership in the areas of metrology at CPP- Syracuse.

Job Duties:
- Be a leader of change in continuously pursuing internal and external opportunities for improvement with a focus on reducing process variation through the collection and analysis of data, identification of the root cause of variation, and development of effective corrective actions.
- Use advanced metrology methods, especially structured light scanning systems, to scan and inspect castings to support Engineering process development and product improvement programs.
- Experience with data analysis and visualization using advanced data analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB, Python) is required.
- Develop inspection programs and perform dimensional inspection of Investment Casting for Aero and Industrial gas turbine usage.
- Interpret and compile the most efficient and cost-effective inspection methods and techniques using computer aided design software, GOM Inspect, Microsoft Office, and AS9102 protocol.
- Prepare required inspection documentation such as written descriptions of inspection results including deviations from engineering and customer specifications.
- Leads and performs integration activities including troubleshooting the equipment issues, programs, and executing plans, for CMM's and Structured light tools.
- Leads the design and building of tools/fixtures that allows debugging, analysis, and evaluation of metrology data across all products.
- Hands-on experience in the calibration and repair of CMM's and structured light equipment, inclusive of experience documenting preventative maintain programs.
- Lead project efforts that result in significant improvements to our current technical capabilities and/or cost reductions.
- Act as a technical advisor to layout personnel, providing input regarding metrology expertise, as well as equipment, educational needs as well as: planning, assigning, and directing work
- Responsible for the creation of training programs and tools, as well as the delivery of training to employees on equipment and instrumentation usage such as CMM, Structured Light, and general inspection tools.
- Ability to investigate and learn new technologies within metrology.
- Experience in the evaluation and on-boarding of new equipment.
- Maintain all quality procedures and work instructions in accordance with the Company's ISO17025/ISO9000 Quality Management System.
- Ensure accurate and concise inspection service records (job package, electronic files, models, etc) in accordance with applicable company standards and quality management system.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and outside sources.
- Ability to support production afterhours as necessary.
- Associates degree or equivalent from a college or technical school; or a minimum of five (5) years related work experience or training; or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. Familiarity with CMM and Structured Light programming.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software, 3D modeling software, CMM programing software and Word Processing software.
- GOM Inspect or PolyWorks Inspector software experience, preferred.
- Experience with Unigraphics or Geomagic design software, a plus.
- Experience in VB or similar language is desirable.
- Knowledge of GT&D ANSI-Y-14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office, Word with an emphasis on Excel required.
- Knowledgeable about SPC and especially gage R&R.
