The Role
Following agency and state guidelines, ABA treatment should be provided to clients in all areas identified through ABA plans. Underlying all functions is the mission to help those we serve to lead richer, fuller, and more independent lives. Supervise and train ABA Support Staff and Behavior Therapists in implementing the clinical treatment plan. Responsible for ensuring continuity across assigned client treatment, including developing materials, updating targets, and compiling data.
Essential Work Duties & Responsibilities
- Train and support all aspects of a client's data collection system to ensure that it is implemented as clinically directed by the clinical supervisor.
- Protect the rights and dignities of clients with special healthcare needs and extend these rights and dignities to family members or guardians.
- Upholds and complies with all safety programs and policies to maintain a safe work environment for employees, consumers, family members, and visitors.
- Commits to organizational quality initiatives by participating in programs that will assure quality improvements and team processes, including regular staff meeting attendance.
- Enhance the lives of those we serve through positive approaches, remembering that each client has individual needs and learning styles. Follow treatment plans and clinical guidance set forth by the clinical supervisor.
- Maintain a professional working relationship with families, including how to apply instructional strategies.
- Attend all clinical treatment meetings for their assigned clients and assist in the development of an ABA plan.
- Maintain formal supervision sessions with the clinical supervisors.
- Develop instructional strategies, including new materials, and prepare new programs under the direction of the clinical supervisor; oversee and update the use of teaching materials.
- Directly observe the assigned client and direct support staff regularly. Summarize observations and provide feedback to staff; assist in employee evaluations and supervision.
- Manage treatment data, develop, distribute, collect, and summarize data sheets, and regularly provide information to the clinical supervisor.
- Consistently update treatment staff about interventions and coordinate meetings.
- Provide emergency coverage to support clients in the Center or Home-Based setting.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new staff; provide co-workers with positive and constructive feedback.
- Arrive to work promptly, ensuring time for necessary communication with families. Review treatment logs at the beginning and end of all shifts.
- Follow all agency guidelines and department-specific policies, e.g., sick and call-in policies, dress codes, etc., as specified in the personnel manual and residential-specific procedures.
- Utilize appropriate communication systems, including logs and direct communication to staff and supervisors.
- Be conscious of the schedules and responsibilities of those we serve concerning their education and outside activities.
- Perform any other job responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
- Attend agency and department-specific training.
- Promptly turn in all completed time sheets, status reports, and data sheets.
- Adhere to all agency policies.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 19 years of age with a minimum of a High School Degree or equivalent with two years of supervised experience working with children with special healthcare needs or have an associate degree in Human Services.
- Demonstrate competency to work with children with special healthcare needs as evidenced by active participation in department-specific formal training.
- Must have a valid driver's license, safe driving record, automobile insurance, and access to a vehicle to be used as directed and when needed for transport.
Working Conditions
Center-based program, client homes, apartments, and surrounding community, including personal vehicle transportation, as needed. Staffing needs and operational demands may necessitate variations in starting and ending times, variations in the total hours that may be scheduled each day and week, and the location(s) of the work assignment.
Physical and Mental Requirements
A wide range of physical and intellectual skills. Lifting, driving, physical exercise, writing, phone, and computer skills.
