LEAD ELECTRONIC LOCK TECHNICIAN
Primary Purpose: The Lead Technician is responsible for performing and overseeing the high level, complex and complicated maintenance and service tasks and repairs associated with journeyman-level locksmith work in the installation, repair, remodel, maintenance of manual and automated locks, locking systems, security devices, computerized access control systems, door openers/closers, and hardware above that of an apprentice and journeyman level. Install new equipment or replacement parts for existing equipment according to specifications and established safety guidelines. Supervises the team, schedules work, maintains completion timelines, and enforces strict safety practices to assist in the attainment of District goals to improve the learning environment.

Qualifications: Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED. Associate Degree closely related to trade preferred.
- Requires Locksmith certification or the ability to obtain one within the first year.
- Requires Genetec STC and OTC certification or ability to obtain within the first year.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must have ability to clear a criminal background check along with a drug test administered upon employment and be subject to random drug testing.
- May be required to successfully complete job ability testing.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the practices, procedures, methods, materials, and tools used in the locksmith trade
- Knowledge of PoE camera hardware.
- Knowledge of SQL, and active directory servers.
- Extensive knowledge of low voltage electrical systems, and the ability to troubleshoot complex wiring schemes.
General networking knowledge:
- Knowledge of complex access control systems and software.
- Thorough knowledge of all types of locks, fastening devices, and related hardware.
- Knowledge of electrical locking security devices.
- Knowledge of applicable code requirements, including those regulations pertaining to fire exits, ADA, and door hardware.
- Ability to read and work from plans and specifications.
- Knowledge using computers or I-Pad.
- Knowledge of State and local purchasing laws/policy for school districts.
- Knowledge of personnel policies as related to hourly employees.
- Skill in guiding, overseeing, leading, and correcting work performed by apprentice and journeyman licensed level technician Reports to: General Crafts Supervisor School/Department: Operational Support Services Pay Grade: Manual Trades/MT8 Work Days: 261 Wage/hour status: Non-Exempt/Hourly.
- Skill in using a variety of methods and techniques and relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan, troubleshoot, and accomplish tasks and deadlines.
- Skill in the operation of all related advanced and sophisticated tools and equipment.
- Skill in accurately calculating time and material estimates associated with a project.
- Skill in analytical, problem solving and project planning management on a large scale.
- Skill in diagnosing, communicating and explaining technical information effectively in an understandable format to a wide variety of diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement with limited supervision in successfully performing duties Ability to make decisions regarding project planning and individual work priorities and group work priorities.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools and related equipment to the trade.
- Ability to receive and complete electronic work orders on the I-Pad, use email, Word & Excel.
- Ability to comprehend complex systems and technical information and explain effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships and work in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with tact and diplomacy and provide a high level of customer service with a wide variety of District personnel and coworkers Experience: 5 years of documented work experience as a journeyman-level locksmith or electronic access control installer in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting.
- 5 years of experience in low voltage electrical install or maintenance.
