Job Overview::As a result of our company's growth, we are actively seeking an experienced Electrical Field Design Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. The candidate will provide support to the Project Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Civil Engineering to produce scoping, construction, and Engineering packages for the client’s substation projects.
Responsibilities & Duties::- Participate in project kick-off, pre-construction, and project scoping meetings on site
- Perform site visits to gather field information, site dimensions and photos to reference for project design
- Develop client scope documents for substation projects based on overall client guidance, site information, and general substation knowledge
- Under minimal direction, design an electric utility substation from a Single Line Diagram
- Work with Senior Designer to define the detailed prerequisites needed to complete a physical electric utility substation design or modification project
- Work closely with Project Lead Engineers and Senior Designers in the development of High voltage Substation Engineering design packages for utility clients
- Advise Project Lead Engineers and Senior Designer of project design execution (progress, delays, or unforeseen circumstances) and assist in planning of design activities
- Maintain schedule of assigned deliverables, ensuring work is completed as required to meet client quality standards
- Serve as mentor to junior designers and CAD Techs to facilitate a succession plan fulfilling long term company goal
- Assist with estimating the number of hours required for various aspects of substation design, substation drafting, checking, and drawing production of a substation project
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D/MicroStation/Inventor/RECAP and other CAD software as required
- Work and interact with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to work on multiple projects ensuring that deadlines are met or exceeded while maintaining quality
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preffered
- 4+ years of experience in designing utility engineering projects including substations of varying voltage levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Ability to solve problems in standard situations
- Capable of managing multiple tasks or assignments simultaneously and efficiently without direct supervision
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Must be able to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days a week in the office, this includes consideration for site visits
- Expected to spend on average 20% of time performing field visits for development of scoping documentation
The salary range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licenses and certifications; and other related skillsets. The disclosed range is an estimate and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
