Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting the Convention Services Floor Operations Supervisors with operational duties and functions, including the preparation of event space for all functions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
+ Responsible for physically establishing the environment including basic event equipment for all banquets/conventions inside or outside the Convention Center
+ Assists in monitoring the event space for cleanliness and maintenance
+ Assists guests with movement of equipment, materials or boxes as needed
+ Responsible for cleanliness of storage rooms and back of the house areas for the Ballroom and Convention Center
+ Responsible for neatness and accuracy of physical sets according to Banquet Event Orders and diagrams
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Follows all departmental safety and sanitation techniques and policies and procedures
+ Knowledge of alcoholic offerings and wine menus
+ Knowledge of food menus and ingredients
+ Knowledge of all Fire Marshal requirements
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
+ One year of Convention Services operations experience in a hotel with event space
+ Thorough knowledge of state liquor laws
+ Must be able to speak English as a primary language
Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Knowledge of operational policies in regards to hours of operation, types of menus offered, restaurant concepts and marketing programs
+ Basic knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, glassware, garnishes and beverage service techniques
+ Good understanding of food products, including sauces, dairy and cheeses, cuts of meat, fowl and fish, fruits and vegetables, pasta, breads and starches and desserts and pastry
+ Knowledge of Ballroom, Convention Center, storeroom locations and various catering areas throughout the casino
+ Knowledge of point of sale systems
+ Working knowledge of Air Wall system
Training Requirements:
+ SMART alcohol awareness
+ Server Safe Training
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
+ Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
+ Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
+ Must be able to work in outside elements, as needed
+ Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
+ Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
