- Position Summary
Coordinates and oversees the activities of the Patient Financial Coordinators. Ensures that Coordinators are accurately and appropriately assisting patients and their representative(s).
Assists patients and their representative(s) in obtaining Medicaid. Discusses available programs and assists patients in understanding their financial responsibility. Supports and assists patients and their representative(s) with necessary forms and documentation.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Work Experience
One year of experience in a Hospital Financial Counselor or similar position required.
- Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Education- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Certifications/LicensureKYNECTOR Certification required within 1 month of hire or placement.

- Evaluates high impact, high risk departments such as Oncology and Chemo Infusion for improvements and executes such improvements in all aspects of the Financial Assistance program. This may include developing new processes related to prior authorizations, medical necessity, and charitable programs through drug manufacturers or care networks that assist patients with the cost of their medical care.
- Processes Financial Assistance applications for all facilities to determine approval/denial. Communicates with patient the outcome of application review. Adjusts patient balances accordingly. Scans applications into Perceptive Content for retention.
- Interacts with other departments (UR/UM, Social Workers, CFR) including providing daily reports for proper communication regarding patient accounts.
- Acts as liaison with Fairview Community Health Clinic and Community Clinic to ensure patient visits are covered prior to service date through Medicaid or Financial Assistance.
- Creates daily reports for staff to ensure self-pay accounts are captured and worked in a timely manner.
- Independently audits accounts to ensure PFA coordinators work accounts in an effective and appropriate time frame.
- Compiles and reports month end stats to Director.
- Submits required quarterly CAC report to the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange.
- Acts as Designated Organization Administrator via the Medicaid Kynnect and Kentucky Online Gateway sites.
- Suggests and executes organizational improvements to the PFA process with the goal of qualifying increasing the insured patient population in MCH service areas.
