About the Job
The Lead will be responsible for driving manufacturing excellence and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, communication, and collaboration;oversee the development of efficient and accurate CNC programs, setup sheets, and instructions, while fostering cross-functional collaboration and individual development; will be a hands-on working leader responsible for developing CNC programs, processes, and setup sheets, and operating and troubleshooting CNC machinery to ensure the production of quality products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the CNC Programming team in creating efficient and accurate CNC programs, setup sheets, and routed instructions, including developing standard methods to estimate setup and cycle times for accurate quoting and process router accuracy.
- Develop and deploy the use of checklists to ensure CNC programs and setup sheets are delivered on-time and in-full to Machining departments.
- Optimize CNC program cycle time, tool-life, and setup time reductions through collaboration with vendors and tooling suppliers to optimize tooling selection, feeds, and speeds for efficiency.
- Lead the programming team in quoting, contract review, corrective action, and continuous improvement processes.
- Develop metrics to track CNC programming efficiency and effectiveness, with a focus on "right the first time" (RTFT) and "on-time in-full" (OTIF) performance measures.
- Develop methods to provide programming support across all shifts.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with other department leads to improve and sustain business processes and project timelines.
- Train and guide team members, support individual development, and foster team cross-functional training, including programming between different CNC types.
- Operate and troubleshoot CNC machinery, selecting proper cutting tools, while considering factors such as materials, speeds, and feeds.
- Gain a solid understanding of inspection techniques, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and OEE.
- Study sample parts, blue prints, drawings, engineering models, materials, specifications and other information including geometric dimensions & tolerances (GD&T) to determine machining methods and sequences of operations required.
- Make proper cutting tool selections, taking into consideration factors such as materials, speeds, type of cutters, feeds, control system limitations, and existing company tooling standards.
- Revise existing programs and documentation to reflect revision changes when required.
- Review program or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished workpiece dimensions, and numerical control sequences.
- Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, using computer network links.
- Complete all documentation per ISO 13485 and FDA requirements.
