About the Job
This position serves as the lead engineer for engineering projects related to existing product manufacturing, scale-up and expansion. The role requires strong engineering and biologic manufacturing aptitude, particularly related to recombinant protein. A successful candidate must have practical experience working in a commercial setting where economic and strategic thinking is critical to success and adaptability to changing priorities is required. In addition, attention to budgets, timelines, and critical path planning are expected. The candidate will work closely with the CEO, VP Quality, Director-Manufacturing, Director-Process Development and Director-Supply Chain management team to rapidly grow the business and support rapidly growing revenue. The position reports to the CEO. Compensation will be market based including cash salary and bonus as well as 401-K with matching, and common employee benefits.

- Implement engineering discipline and economic analysis related to new processes and products.
- Develop capacity expansion scope, plans and capital budgets.
- Implement approved capacity expansion projects and manage contractors for design, build, and install.
- Work collaboratively with other functions within the company including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Process Development.
- Utilize project management tools like SmartSheet, to orchestrate project timelines, activities, and milestones.
- Manage capital budgets and implement cost savings and efficiencies in manufacturing.
- Develop sustainability projects that enhance competitive advantage.
- Proactively identify new complementary manufacturing technologies.
- Adhering to company policies and ensuring the same is followed by your team.
Qualifications:
- A BSc Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
- At least 10 years experience in a commercial biomanufacturing, engineering or process development position requiring knowledge of biological processes, utilities, and infrastructure
- Experience with capital project management
- Experience presenting technical information to large groups.
- Strong economic, analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of products, including Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
