Description:
Trocaire College is expanding the Digital Learning Team with the addition of an on full-time Learning Technologist. This on campus position supports the Digital Learning Team as part of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) with a focus on supporting the needs of the institution for seated, hybrid, hyflex, and online courses and programs, aligning curriculum with NYSED, Federal Government, MSCHE, NC-SARA and other accrediting body expectations. In addition to supporting academic programs, the Digital Learning Team designs, develops, and implements trainings, resources and professional development opportunities for the campus community, pertaining to course and program design and development using technologies that best suit the needs of the curriculum goals. This position will execute multi-media & digital learning development; support, create and maintain digital learning programs; provide services and resources relating to technology supported learning; report to and assist the Director of Digital Learning with online curriculum development, the quality assurance process, development, evaluation, implementation, testing, and support of institution-wide digital learning technologies & systems. The Learning Technologist will be actively involved with project management, researching, and supporting learning with the use of technologies, pedagogy and best practices in the field. The applicant should have strong communications skills, the knowledge, experience, and skills to coordinate difficult online learning projects in a collaborative team environment, work independently to meet timelines and enjoy working with people.
Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: The Digital Learning Technologist will:
- Report to the Director of Digital Learning
- Support the Digital Learning Team in the exploration and identification of technologies that meet course, program, and institutional goals.
- Have a strong knowledge of educational technology and teaching, keep informed and up to date with instructional technologies and curricular best practices (e.g., ADDIE, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Backwards by Design (BbD), OSCQR/QM, formative feedback, authentic and adaptive learning, etc.)
- Assist with accessibility needs in keeping with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Web Content and Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Research trends in education and evaluate technology options, create and curate digital content, design and develop interactive learning activities, incorporate multimedia into course design, manage tools and software.
- Provide instructional design expertise while collaborating with instructors in the development and/or conversion of courses for online, hybrid, and hyflex learning modalities including the selection of appropriate technological, instructional, and assessment strategies while meeting the objectives of the course, aligning with the quality assurance process and honoring the academic goals of the institution.
- Recommend innovative design, format, and/or technological changes to better adhere to delivery options for the course.
- Understand the learning environment regarding pedagogy, learners, content, goals, and tailor solutions to the needs of the learner, course, program or project.
- Knowledge of software and platforms (e.g. Blackboard, Panopto, ExamSoft, M356 suite, video, audio, virtual reality, AI, Articulate 360, Camtasia, SharePoint, ExamSoft, Panopto, H5P, WordPress etc.)
- Develop trainings, workshops, on demand resources, videos, and user guides for faculty, staff, student and administrative needs.
- Effectively lead instructional workshops and presentations on innovative strategies to enhance teaching and learning for faculty, staff, administration and students (online and in person).
- Communicate effectively verbally, in writing and when training with individuals, small and large groups both online and in person.
- Identify, create, manage and execute project timelines.
- Assist with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) web page design.
- Provide support in the forms of a ticket system, email, phone, in-person, and virtual assistance.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required in Instructional Design, Digital Design, Education, or related disciplines, Master's degree preferred.
- Experience with conducting online course reviews and communicating results and recommendations to faculty, staff, and administration.
- Experience in higher education with a fluency in pedagogical modalities (preferred).
- Experience with online instructional design focused on actively engaging students and meeting the needs of adult learners.
- Act as a resource and expert with learning technologies. This includes research of learning technology trends and applying technology to current and future programming.
- Familiarity with common instructional design principles and best practices (e.g., ADDIE, Integrated or Backwards Design, OSCQR/QM, adaptive learning, formative feedback, etc.)
- Professionally strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with content or Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard preferred)
- Knowledge of Section 508 requirements, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and application to product development.
- Application of software (e.g., M356 suite, video, audio, virtual reality, AI, Articulate 360, Camtasia, SharePoint, ExamSoft, Panopto, H5P, Vyond, etc.).
- Experience working on project teams to accomplish tasks and milestones in a timely manner.
