Department Summary
UNT Theatre comprises a highly professional faculty who possess a strong reputation in providing comprehensive training in design/technical theatre and production. The BA program in theatre offers a concentration in design/tech theatre with approximately 75 students who have declared that concentration.
The Department of Dance and Theatre is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, with approximately 400 theatre majors and minors in theatre and dance. The Department offers a BA degree in Theatre with concentrations in Performance, Design/Technology, General Studies and Theatre Teacher Certification, and a Minor in Dance. The vibrant undergraduate program delivers a rigorous theatre education within a liberal arts context. The Department produces a full season 5-6 productions as well as several laboratory events directed by faculty, guest artists, or students. Additionally, UNT Theatre is committed to hiring guest artists to engage with students and faculty.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview
The Department of Dance and Theatre seeks to hire a continuing Lecturer. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a 4/4 teaching load (which includes design for departmental productions); supervise and manage the department costume shop; mentor and supervise student creative work; collaborate with performance, dance, design/tech faculty and guest artists; and serve as costume and makeup advisor. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, teaching three levels of costume design, make-up design, costume construction, History of Costume Décor, and other courses within the candidate’s field of expertise and as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MFA in Theatre Design with an emphasis in Costume, or a related discipline; demonstrate hand and digital rendering techniques; and demonstrate evidence of teaching in the areas of costume design, costume construction, and related technologies; and demonstrate costume shop management experience.
