Legal Writer - Landlord-Tenant Law Firm
We are a specialized Landlord-Tenant law firm dedicated to providing exceptional legal services in landlord-tenant disputes. We are seeking a skilled Legal Writer to join our team and contribute to our mission by crafting clear, persuasive, and accurate legal documents.
You will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys by drafting, reviewing, and finalizing a wide range of legal documents. Your primary focus will be on motions, pleadings, and other court filings related to landlord-tenant disputes. You will conduct thorough legal research, analyze case law, and collaborate with the litigation team to ensure our legal documents are compelling and legally sound.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, prepare, and file legal motions and pleadings in both affirmative and opposition contexts related to landlord-tenant cases.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research to support motion arguments and develop effective case strategies.
- Write and respond to various motions, including but not limited to:
- Oppositions to motions to dismiss
- Motions for summary judgment
- Motions to compel discovery
- Other relevant pre-trial, trial, and post-trial motions and appeals
- Review and analyze case files, lease agreements, and other pertinent documents to develop strong motion arguments.
- Ensure all legal documents are consistent, accurate, and adhere to applicable legal standards and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with senior attorneys, paralegals, and the litigation team to refine legal documents and strategies.
- Stay current with relevant case law, statutes, and legal precedents impacting landlord-tenant law.
- Assist in the preparation of trial materials and appellate briefs as needed.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal education.
- Proven experience in legal writing, preferably in landlord-tenant law or related fields.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
- Familiarity with legal databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
