Job Overview Summary:
The Clinical Manager is responsible for the management of their assigned shift (3pm-11pm, 11am-7pm, Weekend) which includes integration, coordination and tracking of nursing and resident care. This position is responsible for ensuring that the management of the shift is consistent with the mission, vision, values and policies of the facility, as well as in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations and licensing requirements. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing.

Duties:
Administrative:
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing in maintaining adequate nursing coverage
- Conduct staff meetings to provide updates to staff per DON
- Collaborate with other departments to provide timely, effective care consistent with individual's needs, choices and preferences
- Participate in the facility’s nursing committees as requested
- Assume nursing administrative responsibilities of the facility for weekend and holiday coverage as requested
Clinical:
- Monitor communication between licensed nursing staff and CNA’s during and between shifts as warranted
- Participate in shift to shift communication between incoming and outgoing nursing staff
- Make rounds on all units to assist with any issues or concerns as warranted
- Monitor meals and assist as needed. Monitor nourishments and fluids as needed
- Review the report book and check that any new problems, such as accidents, infections, or other new orders, have a corresponding care plan for each resident that addresses the problem
- Complete any New Pressure Area Reports and send to the Director of Nursing and the Dietician as needed
- Keep census current
- Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly and other tasks assigned for the day
- Remove discontinued drugs from cart, determine if any are returnable, and follow procedure
- Audit treatment and medication books to ensure compliance with task completion
- Ensure assessments are being completed as scheduled
- Update Care plans as warranted
- Notify the DON of all incidents
- Monitor lab results as needed
- Ensure a discharge planning process is in place as warranted
- Ensure complete and prompt reporting of incidents, accidents and adverse events to Administrator and Director of Nursing
- Investigate resident/family complaints and take appropriate actions to bring to resolution
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
A graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold a current licensure by the state board of examiners of nurses in the facility’s state. The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents and visitors at the work site when responding to their medical and physical needs (Required). Prior experience in the long-term care environment (Preferred).
