Lifespringat Cross Keys Village is specifically designed tocombine health services with social activitiesin order to help participants stay mentally and physically engaged, reduce their isolation, and slow down any decline in their abilities. Our secure, supportive program offers a variety of wholesome and stimulating activities, supervised by a trained and caring team in an inviting setting.
Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community (CKV) is currently seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic individualto become a part of our Lifespring team! As the Lifespring Engagement Specialist,you will have the opportunity to plan and facilitate programs which stimulate interest, enhance skills, and address the needs of Lifespringparticipants.
This opening is a full-time, day shift position working Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. with the flexibility to to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
Job Description:
As the LifespringEngagement Specialistyour scope of responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating the monthly activity program, including creating the monthly calendar and implementing “The Seven Dimensions of Wellness”. Communicatinga list of supplies to the Lifespring manager, facilitatingprograms, coordinating with supporting departments, and providing direction to team members and volunteers.
- Responsible for research, development, and implementation of best practices related to the engagement of those living with Alzheimer’s disease or another related cognitive impairment.
- Providingthe team with direction, materials, and resources for personalized quality engagement programs based on the participants' needs.
- Promotingpositive working relationships with campus team members, supervisors, administration, and other Activities departments on campus,by demonstrating a positive and professional attitude, communicating effectively, and actively listening.
- Engagement:
- INDIVIDUAL: Provide one-to-one therapeutic programming as identified for and completed as outlined in the Participant’s Plan of Care.
- GROUP: Independently leading and directing group programming involving Participants of all levels of care and capabilities.
- INTERCAMPUS: Encourage social interaction beyond Lifespring by integrating engagement opportunities into the program and collaborating with other Activitiesdepartments within the community.
- TALENT: Providingsupport to the program through individual specialties or talent.
- Identifying Participant’s losses, strengths, and needs from Intake Assessment and incorporating their interests into monthly programming.
- Responsible for light housekeeping duties and maintaining an orderly environment, including, but not limited to, participants and community laundry and assisting with meal clean-up.
- Documenting Participant engagement in team notes as indicated.
- Monitoring participants' ability changes and reporting them to the Lifespring Day Services Manager.
- Responsible for providing and utilizing therapeutic techniques including, but not limited to, Sensory Stimulation, Validation Therapy, Remotivating Therapy, and Tactile Stimulation Musical therapy.
- Communicatingregularly with the Lifespring Day Services Manager to address the need for program adaptations or scheduling to meet the needs of Participants.
- Recognizingand reporting signs and symptoms that signify a physical, mental, or emotional change in a condition requiring nursing and/or other interdisciplinary team intervention. Remaining alert for conditions that may interfere with residents' safety and well-being.
- Assistingup to 28 participants per day with activities of daily living. This includes but is not limited to, assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, ambulation, transfers, and laundering personal clothing items. Utilizing proper body mechanics when lifting, transferring, and walking with participants and in all other job duties.
- Promoting adignified dining practices. Assisting with meals and encouragingParticipants at mealtime.
- Utilizingproper body mechanics when implementing the Participant’s plan of care and/or during use of mechanical equipment.
- Utilizingproper handwashing and infection control techniques.
- Covering for the Lifespring Day Services Manager as needed.
- Organizingand planningmonthly entertainers and coordinatingcommunity outings.
- Participatingin organizational committees, special events, and fundraisers.
Education Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Three to five years of work-related experience providing direct care to older adults is required.
- Current enrollment in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry is strongly preferred.
- CPR/FA/AED certification is required.
- Successful completion of the medication administration and diabetic training course is required.
- Must be Serv-Safe certified or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire.
