About the Job
We are currently looking to hire a sous chef/line cook to work at our breakfast, lunch and BBQ dining restaurant. In this position, you’ll work with the other line cooks and the owner/chef in preparing a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes. You will be responsible for opening, preparing the line for the day, making sure the opening check list is complete in a timely manner. You will be responsible for closing the restaurant, cleaning the line, flat tops, matts, etc. Making sure all appliances are turned off and all food is put away.
This is a high-volume restaurant June through October and the weekends throughout the winter. You must be able to handle the pressure with a calm demeanor and level head.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch as instructed by the shift’s lead chef in a timely enough manner so as to meet our customer satisfaction standards.
- Work in conjunction with other line cooks and kitchen staff to ensure that food is rotated on schedule from freezers and walk-ins to prep areas, and then on to the line for cooking.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment at all times by observing kitchen rules and our chef’s personal requirements.
- Ensure that all cooking, prep, and food handling areas and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized at the end of every work day.
- Familiarize yourself with proper food handling regulations as well as contamination controls.

Required:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Able to meet physical demands such as lifting at least 50 lbs. as well as standing on your feet for up to 8 hours
- Must be 6' tall or shorter. This is an old house built in 1865. The hood vent is just over 6' tall from the floor.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Culinary school training
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or restaurant setting, or in a team-oriented environment
