SYSTEMS ENGINEER
The Systems Engineer will be part of an industry leading IT team working in a fast paced environment. The Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall health and success of the operating systems and deployed applications in a large, distributed enterprise environment. Systems Administrators install maintain network hardware and software, analyze problems, and monitor networks to ensure their availability to users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function at a high degree of proficient execution:
- Daily maintenance and administration of Linux Server platforms,
- Successful implementation and support of complex server-based systems in datacenter and/or cloud (AWS or Azure).
- Advanced technical troubleshooting skills allowing for successful resolution of upper level systems Help Desk tickets.
- Resolve critical and/or highly technical issues passed on from team members.
- Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
- Deploy and maintain complex Windows environments.
- Monitor and update ticketing system for customer issues and team productivity.
- Work with other members of the dedicated team and other internal teams to resolve customer issues.
- Train and mentor junior resources to expand documentation and knowledge base within the company.
- Assist with change management and documentation of customer environments.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 3 years of Linux system administration (Red Hat 6 or higher).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
DESIRABLE:
- RHCE certification.
- Other technology certifications
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / TALENTS:
- Knowledge of electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Skilled in determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
- Experienced in managing IT professionals both personally and in a collaborative and team environment.
- Ability to monitor systems for anomalies that require investigation and resolution.
- Advanced knowledge of backup and recovery systems and processes
- Advanced experience with application and operating systems patch management, change management, testing, etc.
- Understanding of general networking principles pertaining to a large enterprise WAN environment.
- Understanding of hardware associated with hosted solutions including switches, firewalls, load balancers.
