About the Job
Boutique law firm located in San Diego is seeking a mid-level Litigation Attorney to assist the firm with its general liability practice. The firm offers plenty of opportunities as it relates to working on cases, as well as mentorship from senior attorneys. Duties will include (but are not limited to) drafting pleadings, motion practice, research, and writing. Excellent writing skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal representation to clients facing general liability claims, including but not limited to premises liability, personal injury, and property damage.
- Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring effective preparation for hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
- Conduct thorough legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and regulations to support case strategies.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements.
- Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and other legal proceedings, presenting arguments and examining witnesses.
- Engage in settlement negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes for clients while considering the best interests of all parties involved.
- Consult with clients to understand their legal needs, provide strategic advice, and manage expectations.
- Collaborate with expert witnesses as needed, preparing them for testimony in court.
- Contribute to the development and execution of effective legal strategies for general liability cases.
- Work closely with legal teams, paralegals, and support staff to ensure comprehensive case management.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing clear communication and updates on case developments.
- Ensure legal strategies and practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership in California.
- Minimum of four (4)+ years of experience from a reputable California firm focusing on general liability litigation.
- Proven experience in handling general liability cases, from pre-litigation through trial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for effective case analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear articulation of legal concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and deliver exceptional client service.
- Ability to work collaboratively with legal teams and support staff.
- Capability to lead legal initiatives and mentor junior team members.
Salary:
$130,000 - $140,000, DOE
