We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional track record of supporting lawyers in all stages of litigation processes. This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, professional discipline, and attention to detail. Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all stages of litigation cases from onset through post-trial. Ascertaining calendaring and deadline management and organization of case files.
- Collaborate with attorneys to manage sophisticated litigation cases and oversee discovery projects.
- Draft legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, and subpoenas; coordinate the delivery of subpoenas.
- Conduct pre-claim investigation, legal research, and initial case assessments.
- Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including the creation of exhibits, binders, and other demonstrative evidence.
- Attend trials acting as assistant to the attorney during the court proceedings.
- Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems.
- Provide assistance with case settlements, preparing settlement agreements, and coordinating settlement payments.
- Maintain communication with clients and provide timely updates regarding case progress.
- Facilitate the meeting of attorney's deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a civil litigation paralegal is required, preferably insurance defense
- Paralegal certification from an accredited program.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), legal research software and litigation databases.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
- Experience in hearing and trial preparation is a must.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex legal material, interpret laws and regulations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Familiarity with the rules, procedures, and protocol of the appellate courts system preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
